It is not only the new year that we celebrate, but also the accomplishments of Deborah McWhinney, IPDET's Program Manager, who departed with 2011's end. Deborah, consummate professional that she is, worked hard to tie up the many strands of IPDET so that a tidy bundle was left for the incoming Program Manager. We will miss Deborah's stewardship but know we will still get to see her in the Ottawa evaluation community. Of course Mary Dixon, Yun Zhao and Paul Glover, bastions of IPDET knowledge and experience, remain with us and will help with transitions.
And we are thrilled to "ring in" and announce our incoming Program Manager. She is Julia Thompson who most recently has been an Advisor in CIDA's Partnerships with Canadians Branch. She has spent 12 of the past 13 years in South Africa working for Common Purpose, a cross-sectoral leadership development and learning organization for managers in private, public, and nonprofit organizations. With this background, Julia is quite experienced in event planning and administration and has honed her process and facilitation skills. She has an MSc in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from the London School of Economics and undergraduate degree in International Development Studies from the University of Toronto. Many of you will especially appreciate that she is bilingual in French and English. Julia officially joins IPDET on January 5th.
