Senior Research Officer, the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP)

Hana Abul Husn is a Senior Research Officer at the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP). She is responsible for engaging and exchanging with ALNAP’s audiences on Evaluation, Learning and Accountability and is conducting research on locally-led evaluations. Hana is also an auditor for the Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative, which assesses how organizations deliver quality using the Core Humanitarian Standard. She has held facilitator, researcher and monitoring & evaluation roles within a global program quality team, for local and international NGOs and UN agencies in Lebanon, her country of origin. Hana has experience designing internal evaluations, commissioning external evaluations, and everything from data collection to management. Hana has a background in international relations, law, and psychology. She is passionate about learning and committed to improving aid through quality and accountability initiatives.

II-d: Evaluating Humanitarian Action: Steps, Challenges, and Real-time Learning

What sets apart evaluations of humanitarian action? This workshop offers an overview of the critical steps and challenges in evaluating humanitarian action and how to address them; a deep dive into real-time learning-oriented evaluation, using case studies from Ukraine and elsewhere; practitioner insights into the ethical aspects of humanitarian evaluation; and cross-cutting considerations for evaluations, including accountability to affected persons and localization.
